- Lead Pastor
Michael McCantLead Pastor
Michael McCant has served as lead pastor of our congregation since January 2023.
Michael was born in Norfolk, Virginia and grew up in Dublin, Georgia.
He had very little connection to a church community until his conversion to Christ in 1991. After being apprehended by God as a teenager, Michael began ministering within the local Church, at youth retreats, camps, and leading Bible studies in his high school. In 1994 he joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM); an international missions organization, being trained and training missionaries. Michael has been blessed to lead ministry teams and/or teach internationally in such places as Mexico, Indonesia, Nepal, and Costa Rica. While working at YWAM Denver in 1996, he met and married Lesa who grew up in the Goshen area and also began her relationship with Christ as a teenager after joining YWAM.
Prior to becoming our pastor in January 2023, Michael and Lesa had been away from vocational ministry for several years. Though not on a church staff team, they continued to use their pastoral gifts and leadership in every position served throughout this time. During this season Michael completed both his Bachelor’s in Ministry Leadership & Church Administration from Lee University in Cleveland, TN, as well as his Master’s in Exercise Science & Wellness from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Concurrently, Lesa obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business which brought them back to Goshen after 15 years away when she accepted a position with Starfish Project where she now serves as U.S. Director.
The majority of their adult lives have been spent ministering together in both domestic and international missions, as lead worshippers, in leadership development, pastoral ministry, and various facets in God’s kingdom. While their connection to the local community began with Lesa being raised here, they also served as Assistant Pastors from 2001-2006 at DownTown@8:08 in the old Goshen Theatre.
Michael and Lesa are passionate about the local church, community, and global impact through world missions and have a big picture vision of bringing effective change to the multitudes. Their personal desire is to continue teaching God’s word, honoring Christ, developing leaders, and worshiping God with the abilities given to them.
